Reporters wanted for 2009,
 and photographers too.

The MWL website is entirely volunteer run.  Game recaps, photos and stats are what make the site interesting.  You can help. Would you like to provide help with....

Athletes love recognition, but over the past few years, we've lost The Springfield News and The Register-Guard has shortened their coverage for non league football games. Box scores with scoring are not included in the paper anymore.

So, here's an opportunity to help. Email a little or a lot to mwlnow@yahoo.com;

  Box score

Ashland   0   7 20 7 34
Thurston 14   7   7 7 35

If you add who scored the TD's and how, that's a bonus.
Thurston - Jeremiah Johnson 17 yard run, Tim Brown extra point
Thurston - Jeremiah Johnson 35 yard run, Brown extra point

Thurston - Jeremiah Johnson 79 yard run, Brown extra point
Ashland - 21 yard pass, kick good
etc

  Written Recaps

Written recaps will be used on the team pages as I build the individual team sites. The baseball site has some good examples.

Short recaps
Short recaps usually come in with the score.
Example: Tom Brady led a come from behind drive that started with 5:10 left on the clock. The game winner was a 15 yard pass to LeBron James. Thurston jumped out to a 21-0 lead on three TD runs by Jeremiah Johnson.

Longer recaps are welcome too, in fact I love them.  It's a chance to let your writing voice show. But they usually come in past my bedtime and I don't post until the next evening.

Longer recaps are usually much more detailed than what is in the papers and the players appreciate seeing their names for interceptions, sacks, goal line stands, etc. Try and mention good defensive plays and who made them.

If you send in written recaps, let me know if you want your name included, or initials, or nothing at all.

Photos:
Email photos and I'll try and post them.  I usually catch up on photos on the weekends.  I usually shoot a game a week..
FYI, I have a 400mm lens for baseball and a f2.8 200 mm lens for football, and a Nikon D700 camera body
1) I try and set up galleries for each team.
2) I usually give the teams that have contributing photographers and reporters copies of my photos at the end of the season. I also email 6 mega photo files to parents on request.

Email photos to mwlnow@yahoo.com

MWL Alumni Updates
Apparently people like these pages as I get a lot of corrections.  If you know of former or current MWL players who are playing (played) in college or the pros, let me know.If you know of old timers who went on and played at higher levels, let me know that too.  This website is a good place to capture your schools football history until the school sets up its own football history.

Email alumni news to mwlnow@yahoo.com

Thanks to all who have contributed this year and in years past. I hope this site brings back fond memories.
