May 11 Monday
Willamette 4 Springfield 2

Willamette spoiled the Miller's senior day and extended Springfield to have a must win on the coast to get in to the playoffs.  Willamette received outstanding pitching from Brandon Rocha until he ran out of gas in the sixth giving up two runs.  Andy Maahs came in to closed the door, getting the last four outs for the save.  Maahs' RBI single and Taylor Woodke's hit in the fourth cleared the bases for a 4-0 lead.

Willamette turned two double plays on defense to get out of some jams.  The Miller's Kameron Bates' single in the sixth made it 4-2 when Maahs came in to throw 1 pitch in the sixth to get the final out.  Bates took the loss on the mound for the Millers.

Springfield must win Wednesday and Churchill has to lose against Thurston to get the third spot. Wednesday is 'senior day' for Willamette. We host North Eugene in the last game of our season.

May 8 Friday
Thurston 15 Willamette 2

We should have saved some runs from Wednesday's 11-4 victory. Thurston’s bats which had been cold against Springfield two days ago got re-heated against Willamette in a 15-2 rout. Chapman returned to the hill for Thurston and gives up five hits and two runs, while striking out 3, and walking one through five innings.
Chapman helped his own cause by going yard in the second and driving in Spencer. For Chapman that is two dingers in two days. Thurston got 15 hits throughout the lineup. Myrmo was 2–5 with 3 RBI’s; Pearson was 3–5 with a triple and 2 RBI’s; Hoover was 2-5 with a double and a triple, and one RBI; Skip Spencer was walked twice and hit twice, Chapman was 1–2 with the homer and 2 RBI’s, Sean Spencer was 1-1 with an RBI; Josh Galbreath was 2-4 with an RBI; and Trevor Ryan was 1-2, with an RBI.

Willamette got on the board in the third when Jernberg was walked, Maahs singled, and Gebhardt singled knocking them both in.
Willamette used Rocha for 4 2/3, Fike for 2/3 and Svensson for 2/3. Willamette was charged with 4 errors.... by TS

April 27 Monday
Springfield 12 Willamette 9

Millers jump out to 11-2 lead in top of third and everyone's thinking we're gonna go home early and get warm. Wolverines won't die and score five in bottom of third. Willamette opens the bottom of the sixth with a walk, which gets starter Brad Gregory pulled for Blaine Dudley.
Marcus Fike greets Dudley with a single. Dudley K's the next batter, but Nick Jernberg rips a double to score two to pull Willamette within 11-9, with one out. Jordan Bowman came to the plate and hit a dribbler to third. Zady Navarro charged the ball and made a great throw to first for the out. That play seemed to turn Dudley into superman as he retired the last five batters. Dudley got the final three in a downpour (the rain saved just for him) to close the game.
Springfield sent 9 batters to the plate in the first, highlighted by Mike Travess's two run dinger. Another 10 batters faced the hill in the fourth, featuring a Cody Whitney shot to left that scored three runs.( I think the long Miller innings at bat froze Miller pitcher Gregory's fingers.) Springfield's offense was aided by 11 free passes.
