Coach Jon Guldager 2010 3rd Year
Willamette was fun team to watch last year. They had power at the plate, but struggled on D, so spectators were always in for a thrill. The Wolverines graduated a lot of that power, but retain three pitchers, all seniors: Jake Hughes, Taylor Woodke and Logan Wright. If this group can work as a pitching staff and not get upset if they got a quick hook, they could be a playoff team. It's unlikely that they all would have a bad day on the same day, so it'll be fun to watch coach Guldager manage this crew. The bats should be okay, but perhaps without as many bombs. Woodke had a strong year at the plate last year. Busenbark can launch it. Jordan Bowman, Logan Wright and Hughes are all capable sticks and should be better this year.

PRE - LEAGUE

Coach Guldager has put together an ambitious schedule for the Wolverines. Six games against 6A teams and local 4A nemesises Pleasant Hill and Junction City. Everyone will know by the end of these games if Willamette's experienced pitchers have grown over the last year.

LEAGUE

Willamette got the worst of the league schedule with Churchill, Thurston and North Eugene all having the home field advantage over Willamette this year. But maybe that's not a bad thing. Willamette gave up at least ten runs in five league games last year - four were at home. Don't expect that kind of pitching out of the Wolverines this spring. This year's version of Willamette returns a lot of pitching experience and seniors at that. If the pitching staff comes out of pre-league feeling good about their performances, Willamette could emerge as a playoff team.
