PRE - LEAGUE

The Pirates stick with a 4A-3A pre league schedule this year. They'll have six games against state playoff teams - North Bend (2), Siuslaw (2), North Marion and Myrtle Point. The Pirates will want to see a big improvement on the mound and at the plate. If they can handle the Bulldogs and Siuslaw prior to league, the Pirates should be fired up.

LEAGUE

The Pirates have been improving their home facilities. They had a fundraising drive and added 10 tons of fill and 5 tons of field conditioner to their field. The Pirates host Churchill and Thurston twice each, while traveling twice to each of the other three schools. Marshfield will be a major underdog in the league. But if they can get a lot of mileage out of their crafty lefties, they can steal a spot in the playoffs. The Pirates should be steady on D as they only lost four seniors with significant playing time. This year's seniors - Elliot Aurdahl, Cody Dew, Ryan Campbell and Josh Perkins - all saw major playing time last year and plan to improve on last year's record.

PLAYERS (from Feb 15 Way Too Early Prediction)

Pirate hopes will be in the left arms of junior Kane Rowley and senior Elliot Aurdahl. If these two can up their K-BB ratio to 2-1 or 3-1 from 1-1, they could do more than upset North Eugene, like they did last year.
One of the more exciting players in the league is another lefty, Cody Dew. He plays the outfield as well as anyone. He gets good jumps and has no fear.
Senior Ryan Campbell, one of the most underrated players in the league will get some innings from the right side of the mound, and will be making more outstanding defense wherever he plays.

2009 League Stats
Elliot Aurdahl         4 RBI, 1 2b
Cody Dew             4 RBI, 1 2b
Kane Rowley (Jr)   4 RBI, 2 2b
Ryan Campbell      4 RBI, 2 2b
Josh Perkins         1 RBI
